Blame It on the Night

Yale Wolf is a purveyor of light, architect of the sidewalk, a multidiscipline visual artist currently using industrial design to explore the outer boundaries of neon. Born in Reno, NV, Yale came up under a city landscape dominated by neon’s captivating glow. As a young artist he discovered a community of trades people blending art with science - blurring the lines between commercial works and public art. Drawing from his education in Industrial Design from Western Washington University, Yale uses neon in his creative practice alongside metal fabrication, murals, assemblage, and other artforms. Yale’s work was most recently on display in group shows held in two historic buildings in Seattle, The Donahoe Building known as Bergman Luggage and The Colosseum, two previously vacant retail spaces illuminated once again by neon. He has also displayed his work at Pilchuck School of Glass where he was Kelsey Fernkopf’s Assistant during the Light in the Trees session. Previous work is currently glowing in restaurants, store fronts, office spaces and in private collections.
